Yesterday Jerry and I had such a busy day, It’s crazy how fast the day goes by when you are gone doing things ALL day long. I dropped Jerry off at practice, Miika at CityDog and I headed to the gym. After practice Jerry and I headed to lunch and then to the kids center for a couple hours. We have a big “fashion show” coming up next week! The kids are all doing different things, some of the girls are modeling, singing, and choreographing dances. The boys are DJ’ing, doing photography and speeches. Yesterday we were trying to “make outfits” out of random fabric that we found, this is what JeaLena came up with:
Isn’t she so cute? She’s going to be a heartbreaker in a couple years…look out Slovenia! Jerry and I are truly having a great time with the kids. There’s something special about little kids being so happy to see you after school.
After finishing my whole plate of calamari at dinner last night we came home and “relaxed”. Jerry played video games and I cleaned the apartment top to bottom (wine in hand). I wanted to get things done last night, so I could do absolutely nothing while Jerry was gone today….. which I accomplished.
It rained all day long but I put on my Hunters and took Miika for a couple walks anyways. Then we snuggled in bed, watched Hotel Transylvania and napped a little bit. I attempted to bake cookies….. big fail. I didn’t get that gene like my mama, too bad for Jerry! But seriously, I blame the oven, it burns EVERYTHING. I don’t even enjoy baking, I think it’s because I’m SO OCD and baking is SO messy. Anyways, I did another batch and some of the cookies were salvageable. I know Jerry will devour them with a big glass of milk when he gets home late tonight. Hey, at least I tried. Hopefully Jerry doesn’t fire me…..
Jerry’s game went to a shoot out tonight and they ended up winning, 4-3! Big win for them since they beat the 1st place team in the league, Vienna and it’s their first shootout win ALL season! Go Jerry Go!
Looking forward to waffles in the morning with Jerry at our new favorite breakfast spot, maybe I’ll even wake up to snow? Maybe? Maybe?
Jerry’s friend and old college teammate, Chris Frank has started a new fundraiser, Hockey Players Assemble.
Chris attended college at Western Michigan University where he studied Psychology and Sociology. He continued school while overseas in Wales and studied the Master of Business Administration. On top of his achievements in school, Chris went on to play professional hockey after his collegiate hockey years were over. He has played in the AHL, EIHL (in the UK) and is currently playing in ECHL for the San Francisco Bulls.
What is Hockey Players Assemble (HPA)?
“Hockey Players Assemble (HPA) is an initiative which strives to unite hockey players and fans, through social media, to raise funding and awareness for socially conscious organizations. With the large following of support hockey players get on social media sites…I figured we could take advantage of our level of influence by tweeting or creating status updates. To promote nonprofits that make positive impacts in the communities we play in. So, we are in the process of our first fundraising for Youth Villages, a nonprofit that operates on a national scale. Youth Villages, looks to restore broken families and provide services to at-risk youth.“
By December 22, 2012 HPA is expecting to raise a minimum of $10,000! This is the “30 day challenge” they started just a few days ago on November 23rd. To reach their goal they need your help and support. HPA has support from hockey players in over 9 different leagues. Including the NHL, AHL, ECHL and even overseas players!
How can you help HPA reach their goal?
– Make a donation by going to www.hpassemble.com
– Share their message on your social media pages
For further questions or more information you can visit HPA’s website at www.hpassemble.com or VIA E-MAIL @ HPAssemble@hotmail.com
Let’s help HPA reach it’s goal and beyond!
Miika has just been living the puppy dream. She’s really embraced the European culture and made lots of new friends at her doggy daycare, CityDog. Once or twice a week we take Miika there so she can have some time to catch up with her friends, run, play and I can have a break, catch up on school work! Alenka who runs CityDog is amazing and Miika loves her! (If you are ever in Slovenia, or live in Slovenia and need dog care, contact her!) Lately I’ve been taking her on game days and we’ll pick her up after the game, that way she isn’t alone while were gone for 3-4 hours. It works out really well!
Other then going to CityDog, Miika and I do a lot of hiking in the trails, walking around the city, running, and…. of course snuggling in bed!
Alenka takes amazing pictures of all the pups, so I want to share some!
Hugs and Slobbery Kisses,
From, Me & Miika! XO
Every year, around this time, hockey teams do a “Teddy Bear Toss” and all the teddies collected go to Toys For Tots or something similar for children. After the first goal scored for the home team, everyone throws their teddies on the ice.
This year was Olimpijas first EVER Teddy Bear Toss!
Not all of these photos are mine!

I’m beyond thankful for so many things, I wouldn’t even know where to begin.
I was dreading another holiday by myself, surprisingly it wasn’t too bad. Maybe I’m starting to get use to this! I spent my afternoon volunteering at the kids center. I’m thankful I could put a smile on their face. Jerry and I recently started volunteering there. The kids are great, and it was nice to spend sometime there. I’ll be able to swear in Slovenian in no time! Later on I had dinner with a couple of the girlfriends and Neza. The best pizza I’ve had so far in SLO, it’s all good but this was the best!
After dinner I came home, grabbed a glass of wine and got on my computer. I got to see SO many family members and friends thanks to Skype/Facetime! Family and friends in Michigan, Boise, Germany… and even Jerry whose in the Czech Republic right now. Seriously, technology made my Thanksgiving perfect!
Jerry hasn’t had an overnight road trip in forever. I almost forgot what it was like….having the bed to just Miika and I. Can’t say I hated it! 😉 I’ve had quite the productive day despite the rain making me want to lay in bed and do nothing. Now I’m gonna do some homework, and relax. Jerry’s game is starting soon, hoping the boys get the W!
I hope all of you at home are enjoying leftovers and maybe another day off of work! Hugs from SLO! XO
Since break the boys have been on a ROLL! Picking up 7 out of 8 points in the last 4 games. Woo Dragons! Winning 3 games against 2 of the top 3 teams in the league, and losing one in a shoot out. (BOO SHOOTOUTS). Jerry’s had to stop over 40 shots the last 4 games, last night he stopped 47! So far Jerry has stopped 807 shots this season. Just so you know, that’s A LOT. I seem to be having Boise Dejavu? Go Jerry!
Unfortunately, the boys leave tomorrow (Thanksgiving, BOO again) for a game in Czech Republic Friday. They better get a big W for leaving us American girls behind! The girls and I have dinner plans downtown tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to that!
Good Luck on Friday Dragons!
Jerry had another “big deal” game in Zagreb Croatia on Wednesday at another big rink but this time it was indoors! By big deal I mean there were A LOT of people there.
This is a picture from inside the rink at the game.
The boys won 4-1 and Jerry played unreal! It was on TV here (since we now have amazing cable) so I got to sit on the couch with Miika and watch! Oh…yeah, with Mickey D’s too… Opps!
Today is game day and we have another home game on Sunday. Busy weekend! Today’s game should be a battle… wish you could all tune in!
Anyways, I’m gonna burn pre-game meal if I don’t get going… Miss you all and love you. Have a good weekend! Ciao! XO
Today, was a GREAT day (electronically) for us. So, of course I’m going to blog about it… then I can look back in a year and laugh at how ridiculous this process was. (well, hopefully laugh….it hasn’t been funny…yet) It’s been a long 3 months of 5 English channels and Internet that stops working every other hour. (Frustrating when you have online classes). I can now recite the last 3 seasons of the Kardashians from memory. It’s on all day here..seriously.
I will be happy to lay in our bed, do homework, watch TV, and surf the web while Jerry sits on the couch in the living room and plays video games. :HAPPY DANCE HAPPY DANCE: I can’t wait for our next ‘day off’ just so Jerry and I can lay in bed and watch TV for hours. A big Thank You to Telemach for making our apartment complete. My apologies to the nice cable man who watched me cry on Monday, then had to come back and face me today. I’ve been called a “glass case of emotion” once or…twice. I know Jerry, I’m emotionally embarrassing.
